Roland TD-4KX2-S - Ultra Compact Pro V-Drum Kit Electronic Drum Kit Review
I have been playing this now for a few weeks, and it is everything I hoped it would be. It is not exactly like an acoustic kit, but considering that it is electronic, and considering the price, it is amazingly close. It's perfect for practicing and noodling around at home. I love that this comes with its own rack, and the only thing you have to add is pedals and a throne. I also added an extra crash cymbal, which it will accommodate, and at this point the brain is maxed out. If you want a bigger kit, you have to go with a higher-end model. I like the feel of the heads and of the cymbals. The ride has separate edge, flat, and bell triggers. On mine, the bell triggers accidentally if I hit it too hard and too close to the bell, and I don't know if it's just mine or if any of them would do that. You can choke the crash, which is cool. The hihat doesn't move, but it still plays fine. One small nitpick is that the hihat pedal is not sensitive like a real hihat. You get closed, partially open, and open, and you have to lift the pedal more than you do on a real one. Another nitpick is that while the snare has separate rim and head triggers, you can't play a cross-stick. Since I'm just using this at home, it's not an issue for me. I mostly use this with headphones, and I've hooked up an iPod to play along with music. Again, to sum up, it works amazingly well for the money, and feels very close to an acoustic kit. It is enormous fun. Even with its limitations, I still rate it as excellent. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Roland TD-4KX2-S - Ultra Compact Pro V-Drum Kit Electronic Drum Kit" are high quality item.
