This looks like it might actually be a nice stand, if I could receive one that was in good condition. Twice now I've returned them to Amazon.

The first time the large knob and ball detent on the support pillar were broken, but the rest of the stand appeared to be in good condition. The second time around everything looked to be in one piece, but the detent (on the same side, no less) and the metal around the hole was bent and the paint flaking off. The rest of the stand was covered in what appeared to be rust dust, and the paint was chipped and scratched in several places.

Most of this damage I can chalk up to insufficient packaging. The unit itself was inside a plastic bag inside of a box..no additional Styrofoam or other packing material that could have absorbed the impact that was probably responsible for the damage in both of these cases.

Maybe I was just unlucky in receiving two bad ones in a row, but to me that says poor QC/Shipping that will probably result in more of the same.

The two stars are for the fact that outside of this, the design seems like it would have worked well for my needs. Too bad I can't say for sure.
