This pickup is a little stronger than the '57 classic. It sounds the same, in all other respects, allowing the 4 wiretapping and split coil configurations. I compared it side by side with the Gibson '57 classic plus pickups and found I could not tell them apart in level or tone, seems to be wound the same. Overall I purchase the Gibson '57 classic pickups, because they are the best sounding pickup I have used in any guitar. The 4 conductor version is an awesome sounding pup. Both the two and four wire pickups sound awesome the 4-conductor just allows more flexible wiring choices keeping with the great tone from the '57 classic pup. 2 wire or 4 wire version of the 57 classic pups are my number one choice in pickups bar none!
