The manual that comes with the thing states that the expectation is that the owner is familiar with subtractive synthesis. It lists the features of the board, and mentions a couple of programming notes, but make no effort towards any kind of step by step tutorial. The controls are numerous, but not especially intuitive, and all of the changes on the board must be viewed through the small lcd screen. (I haven't purchased the interactive software, but this seems very tempting.) While not in the same league of impenetrability as the DX7, this synth requires a fair degree of serious dedication.

The sound is absolutely gorgeous. Easily richer than any "virtual", such as the beloved Nord Lead (though that has its own charms). I have never owned a poly analog before, but it seems well matched to my dusty monos, the mini and odyssey. I look forward to giving this thing the attention is deserves and feel confident that I will be rewarded with sounds beyond expectation. Much potential lurks within this quality piece of craftsmanship.
