This is just your everyday, above average bass. It's probably better than some, but not all. I don't recommend playing the bass with a guitar pick because the sound is pretty much dead. If you want to get that sound, you will need to plug it into an amplifier. The bass sounds great when it is plugged in to an amp. When it's not, you can't even hear it even when your head is right next to the string that you are playing. If you get this guitar, I can guarantee you an above average bass at a great price. I just recommend buying an amplifier if you don't have one already. This bass is a safe choice for people who are not sure about what one they want.
