This bass just arrived yesterday and I am quite happy with it after gigging with it last night. The tone is what you would expect from the Fender logo-adorned humbuckers. Vintage! The finish is flawless, sometimes cheaper Fender models lack attention to detail but their Chinese factories have got it right with this one.I was hesitant about the pickguard being single-ply on the Butterscotch model, but once I peeled the protective film off, the material it's made of seems to be very good, and not cheap and flimsy as I was expecting. The lacquered neck and polished frets make this bass really pop! I'll probably slap on an ashtray bridge cover to give it more of a retro appearance. Set-up and intonation is near-perfect out of the box. I am very pleased with this purchase, especially for the price!
