Celestion G12H Heritage Guitar Speaker, 16 Ohm Review

This is primarily a guitar speaker. Any guitar speaker is one part of a complex system that produces tone. With some amp-guitar-cab-locations, this speaker will have harsh highs. With other amp-guitar-cab-locations, it may be the best sound you ever heard.

Played through a Gilmore Jr. amp with a humbucker, it sounded fairly harsh. Playing it in combo with a Vin30 sounded a lot better, but not ideal. Switching to a Marshall JTM45 completely resolved the harshness, and gave a great bluesy tone. This was not just about playing it more to break it in. After I heard it sound great on the JTM45, I tried it back on the other amp. Still harsh over there. I haven't even tried it with a single coil pickup yet. I hear that may be yet another step toward better tone.

Note that this is pretty much a solder connections only speaker. It doesn't have the little blade tabs to friction-connect to.
