The Nocturn Keyboard from Novation is an intelligent plug-in/sequencer controller. It is a high quality professional keyboard that plays like an instrument rather than a computer peripheral. With a high quality 'Fatar' keyboard, 8 velocity-sensitive drum pads, and a total of 33 MIDI assignable controls, the Nocturn allows you to get hands-on control of your plug-in instruments, effects and sequencer. Brightly lit 11-segment LED rings around the eight smooth encoders, and backlit buttons throughout provide instant visual feedback for every physical control. All 8 oversized encoders are touch-sensitive, bringing up mapping information and automation data on DAW’s with a ‘touch’ mode. Automap acts as a software interface for the unit. The keyboard controller works very well (or so my teenage son tells me). He has been using it for a year now.

The set up instructions are not very intuitive though if this is your first MIDI keyboard controller. But once we got it set up, it has proved to be durable. For the price-point it has features of controllers that cost more.

Just got this set yesterday and got it all set up, and i am very pleased. It looks great,it sounds great, and the price is amazing (i got it when it was only $600). Overall i'd have to say that this is one of the best deals out there, considering that it is a 7 piece kit. My only complaint is that setting it up was really annoying, and it's adjustabiltiy isn't quite what i thought it would be and it got frustrating, but it's fine. Buy this drum set. now.

Regal RD-10V Roundneck Resonator Guitar with Hardshell Case Review

I bought this Regal after guitar-sitting my friend's National Style O for a while. Loved that National, but they're not cheap. I wanted to have the Resonator flavor in my guitar stable, but without the 2K price tag, and so I gave this Regal a spin. In short, for the price, it's great performer with the tone I was after, and a nice player right out of the case. The 10V is a Dobro-style round-neck resonator - I think this is basically the same instrument as the Regal 30V but with a different style of sunburst finish. Top is spruce, back and sides are mahogany. I'm guessing we're talking laminate woods at this price point but not 100% sure. Neck is also mahogany. Tuners are sealed-gear style and turn smoothly. Neck and body are ivoroid-bound with top purfling. Aluminum sound cone with a two-piece Maple bridge.

Pros
- Great tone and playability
- Good fit and finish (although not perfect - a few small flaws in the finish here and there. But very minor and not a quibble at this price point)
- Quality hardware, solid instrument, with hardshell case included

Cons
- Could use a fret dress - fret surfaces feel just a little gritty in spots. Although again, not a quibble at this price point. A trip to your favorite tech for a set-up and fret dress will benefit just about any guitar. Or just play it for a while and those will smooth out nicely!
