Can't beat the combination of price and features. I bought this on Woot for under $200. The primary feature I was interested in was the compression and I have not had a chance to really try it out, but everything else sounds great. This is a great board for a school or community or religious group on a budget.

I own this and the smaller Reunion Blues Large Drumstick Bag, Black Leather and love the quality of both. I have to admit that the this model does not get as much use because the smaller one is more than sufficient for my needs. See the customer-provided photos above for side-by-side photos of both products for a comparison.

That is not to say that this bag is not best for some drummers. For touring drummers this bag will easily carry a more than adequate supply of sticks, mallets and brushes, and for percussionists who use a wider array of stick and mallet types this bag is hands-down the best.

Another point in this bag's favor over the smaller one is if you play with fixed brushes such as the RegalTip 593C Regal Brushes Clay Cameron, then this bag will easily hold the plastic tubes you probably store those brushes in (the smaller bag cannot do that.)

The front pouch can hold an array of drum keys, small tools and spare parts with room to spare.

This bag (and its smaller sibling cited above) are built to last a lifetime, with careful attention paid to zippers and stitching. The leather is of the highest quality and it looks as good as it is constructed. If you are a professional drummer or percussionist this bag is an investment.

The good

Value: The BK-7m arranger module gives you an unbeaten value for the money! Even if you compare to older and less capable modules in the used market.
Visual impression: Elegant and distinguished look
Versatility: can be used as arranger module, karaoke, recording onboard, drum machine, playback, Mp3/WAV player, + Sonar LE
Size/weight: unbeaten size to performance relation
Support: Roland offers support help lines for free! Use them!
Modern interfaces: USB, USB-stick memory (no vulnerable hard disk drive, CD/DVD or floppy disk)
Set up: The wizard makes it almost like "plug&play" for all kinds of Midi instruments
User groups: In the different users groups online you will find a lot of support and inspiration
Accessories: all from foot controller, stand, amplifiers, volume/expression pedals to USB-stick available
Styles, tones (voices), rhythms, OTS (OneTouchSettings) and much more available in the factory set up
Usable factory settings (OTS, MFX,EQ, volumes)
Equalizer (EQ)and multi effects (MFX) on board and selectively adjustable for all tones!

The bad

Interface musician to module v/v: The versatility of the module demands for a clear interface which with the quite small display and relatively few analog buttons cannot be achieved for a spontaneous change of settings
The documentation: The user's manual does not help a greenhorn to midi arranger modules in getting familiar with the performance, a " HowTo" manual is definitely missing (but not only at the BK-7m) Any change to another module (if you do want to change the factory settings and make your own performance library) will cause a lot of rethinking and reprogramming before you get smoothly going.
Price/performance: sad to say the BK-7m module is offered at a too low price! How do I come to this "crazy" statement? The distributors which normally not only do sell Rolands BK-7m arranger module will of course rather sell YOU a much higher priced product at a larger margin than this relatively affordable and low provisioned item! YOU have to check the performance yourself before purchasing. Be aware that mostly all humans tend to like what they did purchase themselves, but YOUR personal preferences can be different to the favor of ANY module in the market.

The conclusion

You get a great performing "box" for the money! The BK-7m is very versatile in many music environments. More than most musicians will ever need! IMHO we have reached a level of sound quality and performance where these are not anymore the limiting parameters. Your choice of equipment in total decides about the sound, and especially HOW you adjust to your personal taste and preferences. To do this the user interface is the major challenge for the producers of such equipment, to open for the creativity and performance of the musician, and not limiting this. The BK-7m at this time (August 2012) will offer you great options and a challenge as soon you will leave the factory settings behind. Now I am waiting for Roland to maybe react to my idea of making a more user friendly manual more minded for the "HowTo" to let musician play music and programmers build modules.

Product Description

The Schatten RB-2 Rockabilly Upright Bass Pickup System includes two sensors, one for the bridge and another for the fingerboard, each with its own volume control. A rosewood instrument jack assembly clamps between the D and A strings just above the tailpice. The entire system is prewired and requires no soldering or drilling. The RB-2 is a passive system that has enough output to drive an amplifier directly, but you can add a preamp or direct box if you need more control over the sound or a stronger signal for plugging into a mixer board or PA system. The main RB sensor element is designed to fit in the wing slot of a bass bridge. Normal placement of the sensor is in the bass side slot. The sensor has a nominal thickness of 0.25" (6.35mm) and requires a slot opening of approximately 0.225" (5.7). The fit of the sensor in the slot is meant to be snug and there is intended to be a slight interference fit. The sensor will compress slightly as it is pushed into the wing slot. Bridge not included. The second sensor element mounts to the underside of the fingerboard for that Rock-A-Billy string slap. Both sensors have a volume control so that you can individually adjust the effect of each pickup.

Schatten RB-2 Rockabilly Upright Bass Dual Pickup System w/Jack and Dual Volume Controls Review

I play upright bass in a rockabilly/psychobilly band and the pickup I had before for my bass was absolutely terrible (By the way, do not under any circumstances buy the shadow. It's way over priced and it doesn't work very well.) so I bought this pickup. I am extremely satisfied with this pickup because it is ideal for slap style. What makes it so great is the second transducer that attaches underneath the fingerboard. The only issue I had with this pickup is that the main transducer shown in the picture, the one attached to the bridge, does not fit into most bridges where it says it should. To compensate for this, I had to shove, rather forcefully, the first transducer into the heart on the bridge. Luckily, it barely fit there. Once I was able to do this, however, the tone quality that the pickup was able to produce was very satisfying and exciting. Do be careful with all of the elements on this pickup because they seem rather fragile. Overall I would highly recommend this pickup to anyone who is looking to play rockabilly/psychobilly.

SKB 14 X 16 Floor Tom Case with Padded Interior Review

I have a Mapex Orion set that I gig with every weekend and needed cases that I could count on to protect my drums even when other band members or fans "help" me! My old kit got pretty scratched up in the mixture of bags and cheap cases I had before, but the SKB's are excellent. They do cost more than others, but I think it's worth it. Each tom case fits in the next smallest case so that I'm able to put them away in the corner at rehearsals and gigs without taking up too much space. I recommend these above any cases I have seen.
