Background: I played flute for 20 years. I had a professional Gemeindhardt, sold it when I got married and set the flute down for 20 years. I'm almost an empty nester and wanted to get back into playing. Not wanting to spend a ton of money, just to make sure it wasn't a passing fancy I chose the Rossetti for the price and the intermediate features. After playing this flute for a few days I realize that it is just like riding a bike, amazed that I still had it :).

Flute Review: Tone is acceptable. The flute needed one screw loosened on one of the keys so that it would remain closed when not depressed. No big deal there. I expected it not to be perfect at that price. However, if your not familiar with how the flute is put together this may pose a serious problem. The lower and higher registers are extremely hard to play. I would not recommend this flute for a student as it is not going to hold up to little clumsy hands (cheaper construction and materials) and it takes more work than it should on the lower and upper registers. I am pleased with it for my situation. As I progress further I will return to the Gemeinhardt KGM solid silver with gold plated lip plate( for tonal quality) and low b open hole flute. But for now, this fits my needs perfectly. If your looking for an instrument for a beginning student, go with the advice of your band teacher, or instructor.
