Profession High Resolution 8 inch Near Field Studio Monitor with DSPM-Audio Studiophile DSM2 High-Resolution DSP Reference Monitor, Single Speaker Review
I was never much for M-Audio monitors until they released the CX series (no longer in production). The CX series had me check more into the older and (then) current product line. Eventually I came across the DSM series, also no longer in production. The DSM-2 was, and still is, the very best studio monitor M-Audio produced on the pro-sumer level. The new BX D2's are based on the older CX series and are quite good too. But the DSM series is still substantially better. It has enormous power, almost every connection possible and the sound quality is very honest. No more hyped lows (older bx models) to compensate for a weak bottom end. The highs are very natural. Overall response seems quite flat, as it should be. I rated them at 4 Stars because they are not perfect and were quite pricey at their peak price level.(749 each). IF you can find them elsewhere, they are 650 a piece. I got the pair for 498, delivered from audioMidi - A bargain. Bottom line is, if you can't mix on these, it's not the fault of your monitors. Grab a pair of new old stock before they're gone! Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "M-Audio Studiophile DSM2 High-Resolution DSP Reference Monitor, Single Speaker" are high quality item.
