AXL Badwater Eldorado Electric Guitar, Brown Review

Picked this guitar up in a piano and organ shop....(of all places). Never even heard of AXL before then. Plugged it into an AXL amp, that by the way sounded awesome, and fell for this guitar right away. Got it for 185USD + the gov's cut (tax). Got the crackle finish. Love it. I also own a Jap made Tele (Top Quality), a Tom Anderson Custom Shop Drop Top (EXPENSIVE), and a Yamaha Pacifica Strat. I know quality when I pick it up. The AXL is right up there. Little different sound and feel than the Telecaster. AXL is lighter weight wise, and has more of jangle sound...very cool...but roars with the best of them. The Alnico p/u's are sweet. The pick guard is wood or simulated wood and looks killer. To make the guitar better...If I were designing it...I'd add a rib side cutaway to the back for comfort, and add the option of a tremolo bridge. Oh...and pop some quick release push pin style strap plugs on it. And maybe some lockable tuner pegs. Good options, but it would push the price higher of course. All in all, a kick arse playing and looking guitar.

Update 5/21/2013: Still have the guitar and like it still. However I'd like to add that the jack for the cable is a bit cheesy and often gives me some popping noise in my amp when I play it. A little hardware upgrade is in it's future with a new jack plug. Cheers!

I've been trying different phaser pedals, trying to find one that really fits into my live rig. Most of the ones I've tried, while varying in sound quality, have one common problem: a noticeable drop in volume when the effect is engaged. Not so with Big Joe.
I had never even heard of Big Joe Stomp Boxes till this week. I was doing a random search on Amazon for phaser pedals, and ran across the Big Joe. The cool graphics immediately caught my eye, so I stopped to check it out. After a little poking, I found a demo video and the company website ([...]).
The pedal has a sturdy build, with a really cool graphic of Big Joe himself. What sold me on the pedal though is the functionality. It has the standard Rate and Depth controls one would expect, and a Feedback knob to vary the wave shape. These 3 controls give you really warm phase shifter sounds, but what really sets this pedal apart is the Mix knob. This allows you to blend your dry signal with the affected signal to the ratio you desire. What a stellar feature!
And there is NO Volume Drop with this pedal. If anything, your level gets a slight nudge when you turn on the pedal.
I hope this pedal is as reliable as it looks, because it's going on my main pedalboard. Way To Go, Big Joe!!!

I ordered this as a Christmas present for my 11 year old violinist son who just graduated to a full size violin. This is a good, decent product, as advertised -- nothing fancy about it. It's a suspension case that comes with a hygrometer, humistat, string tube (wasn't in the advertisement), two bow holders, velcro neck restraint, blanket and accessory pocket inside the canvas outer music pocket. It's a lot lighter than my son's previous case, so that's a plus. I ordered the Bobelock's backpack style V-Strap separately, because I know my son would love it. It should have come with the case, though.
